Ingo Seidel

Ingo Seidel is currently working for Aqua-Global, a wholesale ornamental fish distributor near Berlin, Germany. He is the scientific assistant to the owner and president Gerolf Jander.

Ingo, who is 42 years old (but he looks much younger!) has been keeping tropical fish since early childhood. He started focusing on catfish in the 1980s. While he initially played with Corydoras and Aspidoras, he always had a keen interest in loricariids. This fascination was strengthen by then upcoming L-number boom starting in 1989. Ingo has written numerous articles in all German ornamental fish journals and co-authored the Mergus Catfish Atlas Vol 1 and 2. His latest book "L-number Catfish" published by Back to Nature became a bestseller in several languages.

Ingo is majorly involved in conservation of plecos from Brazil since many species cannot be exported anymore. With the help of many friends he initiated the formation of an L-number working group. The goal is to maintain and breed these fabulous creatures in the aquarium, so that future generation of hobbyists can enjoy them. Besides catfish, Ingo is interested in about anything that carries fins, so he has bred many fish species from numerous families over the years.
